What does ‘Expand search to include items with no full text’ do in Library Search?

Answer

In the search results page of Library Search, when using either the ‘Everything’ or ‘Articles & more’ option, there is an option on the top left hand side of the results called ‘Expand search to include items with no full text’.

expand search

Selecting this option will include results related to your search terms to which the university may not provide full access. This may be useful if you are conducting more in-depth or comprehensive research around a particular subject area.

Here’s an example of a results page when ‘Expand search to include...’ is selected, showing items to which full text access isn’t available, indicated by the description 'Request this item.' Clicking on the title will show if we have print holdings of the resource.

Any items you find using the ‘Expand search to include items with no full text’ function to which we don’t have full text access can be accessed through the 'Request This Item' link or Interlibrary Loan service.
