Can I download and print HathiTrust online books?
Answer
Purdue faculty, staff, and students have online access to several million digitized volumes through HathiTrust, a "not-for-profit collaborative of academic and research libraries preserving 17+ million digitized items" (Hathitrust.org). The items available in the HathiTrust catalog have three different classifications:
Full Text: item can be read online and downloaded as a PDF, EPUB, or as a .txt, .zip, .jpg file. Volumes accessible in full text (39% of those in the HathiTrust catalog) were mostly published before 1924 and are thus no longer under copyright.
Limited (search only): item can only be searched and full text is not available to read online or download. These volumes (61% of those in HathiTrust) are still under copyright. Please search the Purdue Libraries Catalog for a copy of the item or request one through Interlibrary Loan if not available.
You can search the Purdue Libraries Catalog for items or you can search within the HathiTrust website. You will need to login to have access to the materials.
