Why is the "View Item in Library Search" link in my New Item Notification email not working?

You've received an email notification from Libraries informing you that the item you requested we purchase has arrived and is available for viewing. Upon clicking the "View Item in Library Search" link in the email, you notice that the URL in your browser looks like one of these and doesn't work:

x-msg://78/https:/purdue.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery...

x-webdoc://D57CF32A-BD7C-4E...

Answer

If your link looks like either of these:

x-webdoc://D57CF32A-BD7C-4E69-8B51-743C0BAADB06/%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20https:/purdue.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01PURDUE_PUWL:PURDUE&offset=0&query=any,contains,%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%20%2099170304859901081

Remove everything from "x-webdoc: through the last %20" before "https://" Then, remove all repeated %20 from the rest of the link. The last numbers in the URL should start with 99. See full example below.

x-msg://78/ https:/purdue.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01PURDUE_PUWL:PURDUE&offset=0&query=any,contains, 99170304859901081

Remove anything before "https:" and copy/paste everything from "https:" and after into your browser. See full example below.

Example of a full, correct URL (numbers at the end starting with 99 will be different for each item in the catalog): https:/purdue.primo.exlibrisgroup.com/discovery/search?tab=Everything&search_scope=MyInst_and_CI&vid=01PURDUE_PUWL:PURDUE&offset=0&query=any,contains, 99170304859901081
